A “spate of vehicle crime” in five roads has sparked a warning for people to "double check their vehicles".

Three Rivers Police have asked the public to follow “appropriate crime prevention methods” after cars were apparently accessed in the Croxley Green roads on January 12.

Police confirmed that several overnight vehicle crimes were reported in Springfield Close, Malvern Way, Yorke Road, and Claremont Crescent.

A spare key was stolen from a vehicle in Springfield Close but nothing was taken in the other roads.

A vehicle was also reportedly accessed in Barton Way. Police have been asked whether anything was stolen in this road. Updates to follow.

Chief Inspector Andrew Palfreyman said: “I would ask that anyone who lives in the roads mentioned as being targeted to please double check their vehicles.”

Police advice included locking doors and windows, keeping keys out of sight and where they cannot be accessed, not leaving valuables in vehicles, removing sat-navs, securing number plates, registering property, and never leaving documents in cars.
