Eagle-eyed Watford viewers were able to spot a familiar town centre scene in a popular TV drama this week.

Long-running crime series Silent Witness recorded scenes in Market Street in May last year and an episode has now been aired featuring some local shopfronts.

In one scene in Series 27 Episode 6, which was broadcast on Monday (January 29), a man walks out of Panepan Bakery to give another character money while Underground Tattoos and Zara Mangal can be seen across the street.

Later a woman walks to the entrance to an alleyway between Panepan and Tarboush to knock on the door. What appears to be the same alley is featured in another scene.

At the time of the filming, the BBC production department confirmed that it was using the road as a location, as well as the inside of two businesses, but the episode was set in a “generic road and café in the UK” rather than specifically Watford.

Silent Witness, starring Emilia Fox, follows a team of forensic pathology experts as they investigate crime across the county and first aired in 1996, with filming in Watford and Bushey also having taken place for earlier series.
