Watford General Hospital was the setting for a TV sitcom’s finale on Sunday night.
Series-two episode-six of Channel 4’s series Big Boys took place almost entirely inside a familiar location for some in Watford, as the narrative brought whole cast to town.
Channel 4’s description for the episode, titled The Night When, explains: “Everyone descends on Watford Hospital for a long night on the maternity ward, as Jack's whole family have to confront past tragedies before a new, exciting chapter begins.”

The series was inspired by comedian Jack Rooke’s real life while he attended the University of Westminster in Harrow and regularly travelled home to Rickmansworth and Watford, where he grew up.
Prior to the series airing, Jack, 30, said it felt “surreal” to shoot the series in Watford as it meant “retracing my own personal history”.
He compared it to being on the TV show Who Do You Think You Are?, adding: “Except I’m not finding out that any of my ancestors are old money-rich barons or anything exciting.
“It’s just me taking everyone to the same kebab shop I used to go to and pointing out, ‘Oh, we used to get shisha pipes in that weird Persian restaurant there’.”
