A Bricket Wood restaurant has been forced to close for more than a week due to flooding.

Residents reported that the Moor Mill Beefeater, in Smug Oak Lane, has been shut since at least Tuesday, March 5.

A photo taken by a resident on Wednesday shows a sign outside the restaurant which says: “We are closed due to flooding. Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience, team Moor Mill.”

There is no mention of the closure on its official Facebook page and it's not known when it will reopen.

One resident commented: “Wish we had known, it would of saved walking down there.”

The restaurant is built just off the M25 next to the River Ver which features an 18th century water mill, although it is not clear if this is linked to the flooding.

An employee at the nearby machine hire company Carey Plant said the river level was high but they were unaffected so far.

As of Friday, March 15, the Beefeater branch did not answer several requests on the phone for more information, and Whitbread, which owns the chain, has been contacted for comment.
