Greggs has confirmed it will be opening a new Watford location “within the next week”.

The West Watford branch has been on the cards ever since a planning application for ‘unit 1’ in the £25 million Watford Business Park in Faraday Close was lodged in January.

It included external vents, air conditioning for a bakery and Greggs signage. Approval was granted in February.

However, until today, the brand has remained tight-lipped and would not confirm anything officially.

This morning (March 25), a Greggs spokesperson said: “Greggs is due to open a new shop in Watford within the next week.

“We can share further information over the next few days.”

The 4.3-acre gateway to Watford Business Park was transformed from a car park into 13 industrial and warehouse units, with work finishing at the end of last year.

It has been geared towards attracting businesses in high-value sectors, particularly film and TV, life sciences, and manufacturing to the site, which spans 74 acres.

Greggs already has two Watford town centre locations as well as one in South Oxhey, a mini shop inside Sainsbury’s, and a petrol station branch off the A405.
