The Dome Bar to offer Thai kitchen after refurbishment

The Dome Bar in St Albans Road has confirmed its kitchen is due to return after being out-of-action for around 18-months. 

To get everything ready and carry out a wider refurbishment of the whole bar, the boozer will be completely closed from April 6 until April 12.

Nichapa Thosuanjit, who goes by the nickname Apple, will be managing the kitchen. She runs Real Thai Cooking, a business that had previously offered takeaway and pop-up location meals as well as cooking classes.

The kitchen’s motto will be “bringing Bangkok to Watford” and Apple says she is looking forward to introducing residents to the speciality dish, khao soi.

Its menu will apparently showcase “the best of Thai gastronomy” from “the hearty and comforting curries of Chiang Mai to the delicate and intricate flavours of Phuket”.

Landlord Stuart said: “We’re looking forward to new customers coming in and trying our new food.”

There had been a drop-off in business when the kitchen closed but he expects the refurbishment and particularly the Thai food offering to “get some more bums in seats”.

“Hopefully people see its a nice bar to come to and get some food," Stuart, who has managed the pub for 14-years, added.
