A care home in Watford has celebrated the completion of a project to help people with dementia.
Auburn Mere residential care home in Oxhey Lane applied for a government grant last year to improve the internal environment of the home for the people that live there.
The project, called Knocking Doors, was awarded a share of a £50 million fund and the money was used to launch care environment pilot projects designed for the needs of people with dementia.
The work included covering the flooring in reception, individualising bedroom doors with colours and details of the residents’ choice, and making over the corridors.
Lea Dury from the care home said: "The residents and staff involved in the project have worked so hard and are overjoyed with the dramatic improvements that have been made.
"The new redecorated corridors for our dementia residents has uplifted spirits and brought a new sense of belonging."
