There was a large congregation in St Lawrence Church, Abbots Langley, on Sunday morning to greet the new Archbishop-elect the Rt Rev Robert Runcie.
It was a happy coincidence that the Bishop should be in Abbots Langley following the announcement he was to succeed Dr Coggan as Archbishop of Canterbury because, as he himself reminded the congregation, it was in that parish he had preached his first sermon.
