An appeal to allow a former school building to be converted into homes in Radlett has been dismissed.
Hertsmere Borough Council originally refused the application for the property in Loom Lane, for failure to provide contributions towards various local services and facilities despite a previous agreement.
The applicant proposed to convert a school building into homes, renovate and extend an existing cottage and build two semi-detached homes, along with associated car parking and landscaping.
At the appeal hearing, the inspector also raised concerns about the impact the character and appearance of the proposal would have on the surrounding area, including the listed buildings, and as a result, dismissed the appeal on this basis.
