The majority of East of England residents want standardised packaging for tobacco products, according to a new poll.
Charity Action on Smoking and Health (ASH) said the YouGov poll showed strong public support in the East of England for standardised packaging for tobacco products ahead of a final vote on regulations to get rid of glitzy pack designs.
Some 65 per cent of adults in the region polled support the policy.
MPs meet on Monday, March 9, in a Delegated Legislation Committee to discuss the regulations and are expected to vote on the regulations later in the week. If passed and following passage through the House of Lords the new regulations would come into force in 2016.
