A new-look market was unveiled in Bovingdon this morning- much to the delight of villagers and traders.

After 30 years of trading under the name of Bovingdon Country Market, organisers decided to rebrand the market and the Bovingdon Village Market was unveiled this morning.

One of the organisers, Gary Cullum, said there were 30-40 people queuing as the doors opened at 10am and there “was a steady stream of people” throughout the day.

It is estimated around 150 people attended the opening event.

Mr Cullum said: “On behalf of the three organisers, we are more than happy with how it went. The feedback was very positive. The farmers produce was very good and popular, which we expected.

“A good sign is that 15 out of the 22 tables have already signed up to the next event in May."

Stalls at the re-launch included, cakes, tea and coffee, arts and crafts and seasonal plants and produce.

The market will be held on the third Saturday of each month, with next month's scheduled for Saturday, May 16.
