Despite the popular park cafe being closed, the council are expecting a large turnout tomorrow for the opening of the pool.

Families in Bushey will be hoping for some sunshine this bank holiday weekend as the King George Recreation Ground’s paddling pool is set to open.

However even if the temperatures aren't high enough for the pool, younger children can enjoy themselves in the sandpit, and everyone can get active on the tennis courts and multi-sports courts.

Meanwhile, discussions are ongoing on the future of the park’s café after the contract to run the premises was re-tendered earlier this year. Plans are to update and modernise the café to make it even more attractive for visitors.

Hertsmere councillor, Jean Heywood, said: "There is so much on offer at King George Recreation Ground for all the family.

"Not only are there sports facilities for those looking to get active, but visitors can kick back and unwind surrounded by beautiful sculptures, wildflower meadows and open grassland.

"Though I understand it is disappointing for residents that the café is not open, we are doing all we can to get this facility up and running again.

"In the meantime, we are looking at options for temporary arrangements for refreshments while the café is closed or park goers are more than welcome to bring their own."

The pool will be open from 1.30pm to 5pm on Mondays, and from 11.30am to 5pm Tuesdays to Sundays until early September.

Regulations will be in place to protect younger users and help keep the pool safe for all.
