Young cheerleaders from Abbots and Kings Langley came out on top in their first official competition at the weekend.

Twisted Cheer and Dance, a company currently operating from Breakspeare School in Abbots Langley, were part of the Legacy Cheer and Dance Nationals on Saturday, June 27 and Sunday, June 2, which took place at the Copper Box Arena in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford.

The company’s youth and junior teams, having not been together very long, had to perform a two and a half minute long routine, full of stunting, jumping, tumbling and dance, meaning the teams had to learn a lot in a short space of time.

But the Youth Level 1 team, Rebels, aged seven to 11, came second out of 10 groups, and the Junior Level 1 team, Revenge, aged nine to 14, were crowned National Champions in their division.

Their coach, Ben Vasey, said: "I am extremely proud of all these athletes and how far they have come in such a short space of time.

"The teamwork and dedication these athletes show is so commendable and they deserve the placings they got.

"Bring on next season."

Twisted Cheer and Dance are currently recruiting with try-outs being held on Saturday, July 4.
