A part of St Albans Road in was cordoned off this morning after damage was caused to a gas pipe.

Workers were drilling and accidentally damaged the main pipe outside the Indian Sizzler restaurant.

Firefighters from Garston station attended the scene first and put temporary seal on the leak.

Duncan McKavish, firefighter at the station said: "We called national grid and then cordoned the area off for safety reasons.

"None of the houses in the area should be affected by this, just the restaurant."

National grid are assessing the damaged pipe.
