A charity football tournament organised in memory of two popular South Oxhey men was a "fantastic day".

The event, which has been held annually for the last 25 year, commemorated the deaths of Dean Cleary and Paul Lowton, two men who lived in the estate and took place over the bank holiday weekend.

Dean, then 29 was fatally stabbed on August 27, 1990, and Paul died after a car crash in Chorleywood Road in Rickmansworth in October 2006.

The Dean Cleary-Paul Lowton Memorial Day was first set up by Tracy Higham and her family.

Dean Cleary was godfather to Tracy’s son, Nicky Miller, and since his death the family have stayed close to the Clearys.

Mrs Higham said: "We raised £2,879. £2,500 went to pay for the guide Dog, which the day was raising money for, and £370 is going to Ann Lowton, Paul’s mum, as she is donating it in Paul’s memory to The Royal London Queen’s Square Hospital.

"We had a fantastic day and we were so lucky with the weather."
