Fellow dog walkers have paid tribute to a man who died in a fatal accident at the Aquadrome in Rickmansworth.

The man, whose name is given as Colin, died on Sunday despite the efforts of paramedics, passers by and volunteers from the Bury Lake Young Mariners.

The East of England Ambulance Service was called to the Aquadrome in Frogmoor Lane at 5.15pm after a cyclist fell off his bike and into the water.

Paramedics spent more than two hours at the scene before they took the man to Watford General Hospital, where he later died.

A card left on the path between Bury Lake and Stockers Lake reads: "Colin, you will be missed by both Carla and myself.

"We would often hear you call for Max to catch you up.

"So if we didn't see you both, we still knew you were cycling in the distance around the lake.

"We will all meet again on life's highway of dog walkers."

Boat club trustee Paul Childerhouse said regularly saw the man cycling around the lake near the club.

He said boat club volunteers had been at the scene with a first aid kit until paramedics arrived.

He added: “It is very sad to hear this has happened. Every day he would take his bike off down from the car and ride it around the lake and his dog would follow along.”
