The number of fly-tipping incidents in Three Rivers has surged up in the last year, council figures have revealed.

South Oxhey, Oxhey Hall and Hayling, Chorleywood South and Maple Cross and Chorleywood North and Sarratt were rated as the four wards with the highest number of fly-tipping incidents.

On Wednesday, councillors will be asked to consider installing collapsible bollards at garage sites across the district.

However, the cost of these bollards could then be added to the rent prices.

Council documents, which will go before the general public services and community safety committee on Wednesday, September 10, said: “A total of 475 tips were recorded between August 2013 and June 2014 and a total of 756 recorded between August 2014 and June 2015.

“This shows an increase of 59 per cent in recorded fly-tips.

“Whilst more accurate recording of fly-tips by staff may account for some of the increase in recorded tips, there is clearly an increase in the number that are occurring.

“It should be noted that this data does not include all fly-tips that occur on Thrive Home areas, as they do not regularly share data, and seek to remove most of the fly-tips on their land themselves. Similarly it will not include all tips occurring on private land.”
