Members of Watford Synagogue embarked on a giant 'collectathon' to help Watford charities and carried out good deeds for people in need as part of Mitzvah Day on Sunday.

This included collecting warm clothes and toiletries for refugees who have fled their homes because of war, terror or persecution and to give children in poverty.

They also helped with donations of clothes, board games, toys, household items, furniture, ornaments and toiletries for the New Hope charity shop in Queens Road, Watford.

Other charities supported by the Synagogue on the day included the Separated Child Foundation and Wrap Up London.

Members also undertook a number of activities and community events.

Children made greetings cards for inclusion in refugee arrival packs, and cleared leaves in the play area of Nascot Wood Infants School.

A group of young musicians entertained residents with songs and recitals at Prince Michael of Kent Court nursing home in Watford.
