An animal welfare trust had their annual open day and fun dog show this week.

The National Animal Welfare Trust, near the Watford bypass, had more than 25 stalls and games for children to play as well as a BBQ and homemade cakes.

The event was supported by the local community and the centre raised more than £10,000 which will be spent on the upkeep of the centre.

Jackie De Friez, centre manager, said: “It was lovely to see so many people come to our centre.

“The highlight was seeing all the dogs we had rehomed coming back for a visit and a fuss.

“I would just like to say a massive thank you to the staff, volunteers and supporters who have made this our best open day yet.

“The weather held out for us and at times it was even sunny.”

There was also a Have A Go agility and one visitor ran the course without a dog.

The dog show judges Ralph from East Barnet vets and animal wardens Lesley and Deb were kept very busy as there were a lot of entries in the show.
