Students from across Watford put their enterprise to good use and raised more than £34,000 for charity.

Teams of Year 12 students from schools across Watford succeeded in raising the money in this year’s Dragons’ Apprentice Challenge.

The challenge is a county-wide competition to turn £100 into £1,000, with the help of mentors from firms including Wenta, the Rotary Club, Think About It Films, Myers Clark, Jury’s Inn, The Recruitment Queen and Thrive Homes.

Teams in this year's competition, which started in September, represented Parmiter’s School, Queens’ School, West Herts College, Francis Combe Academy, Rickmansworth School and St Joan of Arc School.

Team Cornucopia raised they most money in the competition and were crowned overall winners. Millie Brady of Ingenious Geniuses was given the award for the most outstanding individual performance.

This year, money was raised for Demand, DRUM, Herts Inclusive Theatre, Home Start Watford, New Hope, The Steve Sinnott Foundation, Watford and District Mencap, and Ascend.

Watford & Three Rivers Trust, previously known as Watford CVS has delivered Dragon’s Apprentice Challenge programme since 2012.

In total, almost 1,600 young people across the county have generated around £350,000 for over 190 different charitable organisations to date.
