The Post Office is proposing to relocate a village branch to a convenience store on the same street.

Proposals put forward would mean moving Croxley Green branch from its current location at 158 Watford Road to the Tharu convenience store.

If approved, the new post office will have extended opening hours across seven days a week opening from 6.30am to 11pm Monday to Saturday and between 7am and 10.30pm on Sundays.

Cllr Phil Brading, lead member for public services, said that as long as the new post office continued to offer a full range of services he saw no reason for the move not to go ahead.

He said: “At the current post office you are queuing up at a fairly small desk. If the move makes it more accessible it’s to be welcomed.”

Post office bosses claim that the extended hours, combined with a modern open plan counter, will make the new store more convenient for customers to use.

Suzanne Richardson, regional network manager for the Post Office said: “We are making it easier for customers to get their cash, send and collect their mail and do their banking because we know how important these services are to local residents.

“We are confident that this vibrant new-style Post Office at the heart of the local community will meet customer needs.

“This modernisation is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office and will secure services for the future.”

As part of a six week consultation process customers are now being asked to give comments and share their views on the proposed move before a final decision is made.

The consultation will run until Tuesday July 5.

Customers can provide views during the consultation on the website postofficeviews.co.uk using the branch code 104033, by email comments@postoffice.co.uk, by phone 03457 22 33 44 (Textphone 03457 22 33 55) or by post Freepost YOUR COMMENTS
