Torrential rain has swamped south west Hertfordshire, flooding streets and disrupting public transport during the evening rush hour.
Half an hour of heavy rain has created chaos on the roads and delayed trains.
Train companies have been advising passengers to set off early on their journeys home as more lightning and thunderstorms are predicted later this evening.
The heavy downpour has flooded part of the M1 southbound carriageway between J5 and J4. Motorists are being warned to expect long delays.
The Met line has cancelled services to and from Rickmansworth after a tree fell on the line.
Water Lane is also closed, with police advising drivers to stay away from the road.

The Met Office has a rain warning in place until 10pm.

Selby Duffield took this video in the car park of Tesco Extra in Lower High Street.
He got caught in the rain during his walk home to Bushey.
Queens' school in Bushey will be closed tomorrow due to the flooding.
