A cycling team is on the hunt for two additional members as they embark on a 500 mile route, raising money for The Road Victims.

Leroy Goodman, 50, of Watford and David Vizard, 51, of Rickmansworth, are taking on the Extra Mile 2016 challenge in September.

The race will take then through the Vosges region of France, over the Rhine and into Germany before ending in Montreux, on the shore of Lake Geneva, Switzerland.

The two men are looking to raise a minimum of £2,000 for The Road Victims charity.

The Road Victims is a charity dedicated to supporting people who have been affected by the grief and trauma of a road death.

Mr Goodman said: “I chose the charity as it seemed quite apt as I do a lot of cycling and I’m concerned about peoples’ attitudes towards road safety.”

This is not Mr Goodman’s first cycling event, he has hopped on his bike for the London to Brighton, Prudential RideLondon to Surrey and London to Southend.

Each cycling team will be made up of four people, riding in relay, mostly on minor roads. Each cyclist will cover about 45 miles per day.

Mr Vizard said: “I felt like I wanted to do something a bit different, a bit unusual. The charity does incredible work for people, almost all of the volunteers have been affected by road accidents and dedicate their time to raise awareness. For our new team members, I don’t think that is matters if they are already cycling enthusiasts, it’s for someone that wants to do something extraordinary and raise money for a good cause."
