A sponsored walk raised £5,500 for a charity that provides work experience, training and employment for disabled and disadvantaged people.

Around 60 supporters of the charity marched through the town centre Watford Workshop, wearing purple t-shirts to promote the charity.

Annick Devillard, a trustee for the charity, said: “It was the most amazing day. Everybody was so pleased with the money raised.

“We were hoping for £3,000 but we raised £5,500. We are hoping for it to become an annual event.”

Watford Workshop has been running for 50 years and over 50 people attend the workshops on offer. The charity is located behind Furniture Village in Century Retail Park.

Businesses lent a helping hand, iFix donated purple t-shirts for the event and Teams from DDD, a health and beauty product retailer and Telecom Resource all joined the walk. After the walk, the team enjoyed cakes and refreshments in the sunshine.
