A 13-year-old boy was arrested after police officers found a knife in a bush.

Officers noticed a teenager acting suspiciously in Lower High Street, Watford, on Saturday, April 22.

CCTV helped the force trace the suspect before they recovered the blade.

The boy was taken into custody and has since been released.

Watford’s Safer Neighbourhood Team Inspector Matt Langley said: “I would like to take this opportunity to make it clear: there are serious consequences if you choose to carry a knife.

“Not only will you face a possible custodial sentence and criminal record, which could affect your job prospects in later life, but you could cause yourself or another person serious injury.”

A referral for the boy has been made to the constabulary’s Crime and Young People (CYP) Team, which works with children under 17 who have committed criminal offences.

Where appropriate, the CYP Team seeks to use out of court disposals, such as Community Resolutions, Youth Cautions or Youth Conditional Cautions.
