Five new recruits are ready to answer your 999 calls at police headquarters in Welwyn Garden City.

Hertfordshire Constabulary has welcomed the new communications operators to the busy Force Communications Room (FCR).

Here they will be part of a team who respond to emergency and non-emergency calls, webchat and online crime reports around the clock 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. 

Family and friends attended a graduation ceremony at police headquarters in Welwyn Garden City on Friday, April 19, where the group were presented with certificates to mark the completion of their intensive training. One of the graduates was unable to make the ceremony.

FCR Detective Chief Inspector Ben Freeman, said: “Best of luck to all of you as you embark on your new career. 

"You’ll be the first voice a person hears when they call us in their time of need, and I know you’ll do your best to support them through whatever situation faces them. 

"This is a rewarding role and one where you’ll make a real difference to our communities in Hertfordshire.”
