A Watford man has denied threatening someone with a kitchen knife and broken broom handle.

Paul Yates, of Rosslyn Road, appeared at St Albans Magistrates’ Court yesterday, April 29, charged with assault by beating, two counts of threatening someone with a weapon, and failure to provide a sample for a Class A drug test.

The 50-year-old previously pleaded not guilty to beating and threatening the same victim in a private place in Watford on April 1, and the case was adjourned for the trial at St Albans Magistrates’ Court on May 20.

Yates was remanded into custody ahead of the next hearing.

Hewad Omar, of no fixed address in Watford, appeared at Hatfield Magistrates' Court on Friday, April 26, accused of making repeated unwanted sexual advances and inappropriate requests, as well as threatening violence against a woman between April 1 and 24.

The 31-year-old pleaded not guilty to harassment without violence and was released on conditional bail before the trial at St Albans Magistrates' Court on September 23.
