Fullerians fought back from 21-3 down at Welwyn to lead but ended up losing out 33-28 on Saturday.

Visitors Fullers opened the scoring when fly-half Craig Duncan kicked a penalty. From there it was all Welwyn though, as they scored three tries in quick succession to go 21-3 ahead.

The Fullers pack then began to dominate their opposition up front and the ball was shipped wide for Craig Duncan to score the visitors’ first try.

And before half-time, George Harvey crashed over for his first try for the club to make it 21-15 and drag the visitors back into the contest.

The second half saw the momentum continue to tilt in Fullerians’ favour and they scored again when Duncan was on hand to touch down over the whitewash.

However poor defending once more allowed Welwyn to re-take the lead 26-20.

Welwyn, now under the cosh, took the game back to Fullers and poor tackling allowed the home side to score in the corner for a 26-20 advantage.

Sam Perry soon replied for Fullers to make it 26-25, before Duncan dispatched another penalty to put the away side in front 28-26 for the first time.

But they were unable to hold on and Welwyn finally secured the points when they took full advantage of an interception to score under the posts.
