Fullerians moved up to fourth in London North West Three after a 24-6 bonus-point win over Hackney.

Midway through the half Fullers used their big runners up front to pick and drive and eventually the Hackney defence was broken as second row Liam Boyd crashed under the posts.

The hosts were penalised for offside and Hackney kicked over the three points. It should have been more but the side knocked on when on course to score a try.

Fullers came out with renewed energy in the second half. Liam Mann took the ball from a 22 drop out after a Fullers penalty went wide and went through a crowd of players to score.

Not to be outclassed, fly-half Luc Jacobs produced a dazzling run to score under the posts as he wrong-footed the Hackney defence for a converted effort.

Fullerians continued to dominate the scrum and could have been awarded a penalty try as the Hackney forwards capitulated time after time.

The try came after number eight Simon Lye was held short of the line but flanker George Harvey was on hand to score easily and clinch the bonus point.

Head coach Rich Hoskins said: “We were lethargic early on but turned the screw with 20 minutes in the second half. It was an ok performance but it is always good to win and to get the bonus point was great.”

Fullers Academy secured a 22-12 victory against Finchley on Sunday.

After a close first half, Fullers were finally able to make their dominance tell, with a quick tap penalty by Sam Oguz securing a try in the last play before the break. Ollie Brett added the extras.

Fullers started to find more space in the second half and this created opportunities for the wings to show their speed and strength which led to two tries for Blake Mowatt and Charlie Staines on the opposite wing.
