Watford Cheetahs have announced the American Football team have rebranded as the Hertfordshire Cheetahs.

The club are now seeking new members to come and try out at Rookie Days on Sunday for over-18s and Sunday, November 16 for 11 to 19 year olds at Hemel Hempstead Stags’ rugby league club.

Cheetahs’ new honorary life president and former Atlanta Falcons kicker Mick Luckhurst said: “As a St Albans boy my journey into the NFL started way back at grassroots in British american football so it gives me immense pleasure to have been chosen to be the honorary life president of the Hertfordshire Cheetahs who are based so close to my original stomping ground.

“It’s great to hear how the Cheetahs are building on their long heritage of football in the region with hundreds of members, multiple squads from the age of 11 up and loads of qualified coaches.”

Chairman Al Tepper said: “We’re delighted to consider Mick a part of our club and look forward to welcoming new fans, players, coaches and committee members to the #CheetahPride.”
