Beppe Sannio has spoken of his pride after Watford won promotion to the Premier League and reiterated the affection he has for the Honets fans.

The Italian, who stood down as Hornets head coach after the first month of the season, wrote on his Facebook page: "A perfect end to a wonderful Championship: victory. Proud of the watford team who never gave up and that deserves to stand on the top step of the podium.

"A special greeting to the fans that I will never forget and that remain in my heart forever. Again congratulations. Beppe."

Slavisa Jokanovic's side clinched promotion back to the Premier League after beating Brighton & Hove Albion 2-0 and then other results went in their favour as Middlesbrough lost at Fulham while Norwich City could only draw at Rotherham United.
