Juan Carlos Paredes and Cristian Battocchio haven’t returned for pre-season training after being given extra time off by Watford due to their involvement at the Copa America and Under-21 European Championships respectively.
The Hornets told the Watford Observer last week that the duo were expected back in training today alongside the rest of the Golden Boys squad.
That would have meant only a week off for wing-back Paredes - who started all three of Ecuador’s matches at the Copa America - and four days off for midfielder Battocchio, whose Italy side were knocked out of the Under-21 competition last Wednesday.
However, Watford have today confirmed Paredes has been given an additional week off and isn’t expected back at the Hornets’ London Colney training base until Monday, July 6.
Battocchio’s break will be slightly longer as the diminutive Italian will report for pre-season training on Monday, July 13.
