Premier Division

Radlett secured top spot after a comfortable win over Letchworth.

After winning the toss, Radlett opted to bat first and the decision paid off as they scored 243 for eight.

Kabir Toor opened with 35 and Burger marked his departure by top-scoring on 64. There were useful contributions from Wright (21), Tom Jenkins (22) and Matt Creese (24) as the league leaders posted an impressive total.

Letchworth gave it a decent fight against the title favourites but were eventually dismissed for 170.

Randeep Sanghera returned figures of three for 42 while Creese claimed two for 32 and Toor picked up two for 21.

Radlett’s final league game is this weekend against Bishop’s Stortford.

Relegated Hemel Hempstead Town picked up a rare win after defeating Potters Bar by two wickets.

Bar’s decision to bat first backfired as they were dismissed for just 106 in 28 overs. Brad Finch was in superb form as he claimed six for 33 and Steve Reader picked up three for 35.

Hemel made hard work of the run chase but managed to reach the target for the loss of eight wickets.

Vibhor Yadav was the only batsman to make an impression as he scored 37 to steer them to their third win of the season.

Championship

West Herts’ hopes of avoiding relegation are hanging by a thread after losing to Hoddesdon by 13 runs.

The result leaves the Stags bottom of the table heading into the final league match against fellow strugglers Chorleywood.

West Herts won the toss and opted to put their opponents in but Hoddesdon managed to score 232 for seven from their 50 overs.

Avinash Mane claimed two for 18 while Daniel Woosley, Ryan Woosley and Vinesh Gorasia each took one wicket.

In reply, Alastair Lewis scored 29 and Stephen Pich pitched in with 42. Mane notched 21 while Simphiwe Yiba and Daniel Woosley both scored 27 but it was not enough as the side were all out for 219 in 48 overs.

It means West Herts are bottom of the table and 15 points behind Shenley Village with only match remaining.

Langleybury thrashed Reed by ten wickets in a one-sided rout.

Richard Oxley won the toss and elected to field against their old adversaries. This proved a good decision as Reed were bowled out for 82 after 39.1 overs.

The damage was done by Chetan Depala (four for 21) and Steve Carter (three for 14) after Oxley (one for 16) and Khalid Manzoor (two for eight) had quickly removed the top three Reed batsmen.

Richard Soulsby (43 not out) and Luke Samarasinghe (27 not out) showed the Reed batsmen how to play on Langleybury’s wicket, as they knocked off the runs in 17.2 overs to move above their opponents into fourth spot.

A victory in the final game against Shenley Village, who need to win to stay up, may move Langleybury into third place, depending on how Hoddesdon get on at top-of-the-table Botany Bay, who need to win to become champions and avoid a play-off match.

Chorleywood gave themselves a great chance of being able to avoid relegation going into their final game of the season away to West Herts with a convincing 64-run win at home to Shenley Village thanks mainly to a superb all-round performance from Ryan Evans.

Batting first, Wood posted a serviceable, if not daunting 208 for nine from their 50 overs – Evans continuing his excellent run of form with the bat to top-score with an unbeaten 61 coming in at number eight and increasing his highest score for the club for the second time in a month.

Opener Dave Bushnell had got things started with an aggressive 36 and skipper Tom Smithson hit 34 as Wood went into the interval feeling slightly anxious about not having pushed on to make a really substantial total.

Evans though, showed the right spirit as he tore into Shenley’s batting line-up, taking four for 15 from his ten overs to put Wood in charge. Fellow opener Jamie Smithson took three for 25 as Wood never allowed the visitors to settle and build the partnerships they needed as they were bowled out for just 144 in the 43rd over.

The win leaves Wood four points above the drop-zone with their trip to bottom side West Herts to come in what will be a dramatic conclusion to the season.

Division One

Kings Langley moved within two points of the promotion places with a convincing 88-run victory against St Margaretsbury.

Put into bat on a wet track, a large total was unlikely. Dan Donaldson (36) and David Burnell (25) got Kings off to a sound start before Harry Sambrook came to the crease at 87 for three.

Sambrook was then to put in the performance of the season. Pacing his innings superbly, he helped manoeuvre Kings into a winning position, before blasting 33 from his last 10 balls to leave himself unbeaten on 110 and his side on 270 for six.

Despite getting off to a quick start 270 was far too imposing a target for St Margaretsbury and despite sending his hat-trick ball down for a shocking wide, it was Sambrook who also did the damage with the ball, taking five for 32 and rounding off an outstanding day.

Kings now require a win in their final league game and a little help from Knebworth Park in order to achieve their goal of promotion to the Championship.
