Craig Cathcart can celebrate tonight after helping Northern Ireland reach the European Championship finals following a 3-1 victory over Greece in Belfast.

The Hornets defender, who can now look forward to potentially joining Hornets central defensive partner Sebastian Prodl at the finals in France next summer following Austria’s qualification, played the full 90 minutes on a famous night for Michael O’Neill’s men.

A brace from skipper Steven Davis and a first international goal from Kilmarnock’s Josh Magennis, who was converted from a goalkeeper to a striker by Vicarage Road old boy Neal Ardley while at Cardiff City, secured Northern Ireland’s place in their first major finals since the 1986 World Cup.

Cathcart’s Watford club mate Jose Holebas also played the full 90 minutes for the Greeks, who remain without a win and bottom of Group D.
