Miguel Britos and Etienne Capoue’s fitness will assessed prior to Watford’s trip to Tottenham Hotspur tomorrow but Quique Sanchez Flores says Mario Suarez is ready to start for the Hornets.

Uruguayan centre-back Britos missed Watford’s midweek draw with Chelsea due to illness but was expected to return to training today.

Capoue played 87 minutes against the Blues but Flores has revealed the French midfielder did so with an illness that he hasn’t fully recovered from.

“Capoue played the last match sick,” Flores said. “He didn’t really train before the last match. So before this match we will have to check on Capoue.”

Joel Ekstrand and Tommie Hoban are the only other players unavailable for the trip to White Hart Lane.

The Hornets make the relatively short journey to north London having only had two and a half days to recover from their clash with Chelsea.

Spurs played on Tuesday night and eased to a 3-0 victory over Norwich City.

So it Flores concerned his Watford players will suffer from tiredness?

“Sometimes recovery is in the mind,” the Spaniard said. “We are a very physical team and we expend a lot of energy when we play.

“We’ve needed to recover as quickly as possible. We will have to make a decision over which players we will choose.”

One thing Flores does have is options. The January additions of Nordin Amrabat and Mario Suarez have added genuine quality to Watford’s squad and the Hornets boss says both are ready to start against Spurs if required.

“They are ready to start every single match but it’s important they know the system, their teammates and English football," Flores said.

“They need time to adapt but they are top players who are ready to play.

"They understand everything quickly but at this moment we have players who perfectly understands the system and how the team works.

“They can go onto the pitch, like Amrabat did in the FA Cup, but it is important they know the Premier League and how to manage the matches.

"I’ve been speaking to them and they understand this perfectly.”
