Quique Sanchez Flores has reiterated his belief Watford captain Troy Deeney can play for England and says he could line up alongside Jamie Vardy or Harry Kane.

The Hornets head coach has previously said Deeney, who has scored seven goals in all competitions this season, is good enough to represent his country.

Speaking ahead of the Golden Boys’ trip to Crystal Palace on Saturday the Spaniard reaffirmed that.

“I said maybe a month ago that Deeney has all the conditions to go to the national team,” said Flores.

“He is powerful, clever and represents English football perfectly.

“He is an amazing partner for every striker. He can understand with (Odion) Ighalo, with (Jamie) Vardy and with (Harry) Kane.

"He is a player who can suit every style of football.”

But while Flores has vehemently backed his player’s international claims, he won’t put pressure on Three Lions coach Roy Hodgson to hand Deeney his first England call up.

"It is impossible for me to advise another coach," said Flores. "Sometimes it happens but I am not expecting Roy Hodgson to call me.

“I love that managers are looking at the players of Watford because some of them deserve to be in their national team,” added Flores.
