For the second time in three weeks, the Watford Sunday League programme was badly hit by the weather, with just eight fixtures surviving the rain-soaked conditions.

Division Three

Leaders Inter now have a five-point lead at the summit of the table after a 4-1 win over Bricket Wood Acorns.

Following a slow start from both sides, Inter won a free-kick at an awkward angle on the edge of the box and Jamie Exley stepped up to curl it into the bottom corner.

The home side levelled the scores just before the break when Charlie Micklewright escaped two challenges to dispatch a superb strike from 25 yards, giving Ryan Exley in the Inter goal no chance.

It was the home side who missed some good chances at the start of the second half, but the well-organised Inter defence stood firm, before retaking the lead when Gabriel Casagrande brook clear and slotted home.

Harry Carroll made it 3-1 in the closing stages when he was given time in the box to bring the ball down and volley home.

The victory was sealed with the last kick of the game when after James Oldham had beaten two men down the left, he crossed for Reigan Causier-Young to side-foot home.

Batchworth kept the pressure on Inter in second place as they beat AFC Watford 4-1, who are still looking for their first points of the season. Jordan Stagg got the Watford goal.

Abbots Wanderers made it two wins on the bounce as they beat Woodside Reserves 6-1.

Matthew Zandes and Jordan Standley both netted twice with Andy Denyer and Tim Bracq also on target. Colin Rickard scored the Woodside consolation.

Division One

Forza Watford bounced back from their 9-1 defeat to lower division opposition in the Chairman’s Cup the previous week with an impressive 6-2 win over Woodside, a result which leaves them in third place in the table.

Henry Hardman gave Woodside the lead, before Giuseppe Delgaudio scored the first of what turned out to be his four goals in the game to level the scores.

Woodside soon restored their advantage when Harry Beamont netted, but the game turned just before the break when Dylan Caton equalised for the second time for Forza.

It was all one-way traffic in the second half as Delgaudio netted a 45-minute hat-trick, with the final goal coming from an own goal.

This win leaves Forza three points behind leaders Hertfordshire Eagles who beat Watford Town 8-2.

Within hours of the final whistle Town resigned from the league, citing being unable to get out a regular eleven players each week.

Eagles started well and went ahead in the opening ten minutes when a cross from James Hicks was turned in by Antony Macey.

More goals quickly followed with two from Henry Gibbor and one from Charlie Kimpton making it 4-0 at the break.

Five minutes into the second half Evan King scored with an effort from outside the area, before Town briefly battled back through a brace from Ollie Lawford, including a penalty.

But two goals in as many minutes from Jack McLaughlin and a second of the game for Macey ended Town’s resistance, with Charlie Ford sealing the win with a strike into the top corner in the final minute.

Division Two

The only game in the division to survive the deluge came as BB beat CF Fajeczka 4-2 to register a second win of the season and leave both teams as two of five sides on seven points in the middle of the table.

Daniel Wallis netted twice for BB with the other goals coming from Cameron Pavitt and James Barnett. Joseph Belloni scored both the Fajeczka replies.

Herts Senior Cup Round One

Both of the league’s teams in action went down to away defeats.

Abbots Langley Club scored five times at Southbury but were still knocked out 7-5.

Abbots had a dream start as they took an early 2-0 lead, thanks to a penalty from Alex Diaz, before Ozzie Ogbebor, who had been fouled for the spot kick, doubled the advantage.

Southbury then pulled one back, before Kyle Clifford scored following a goal mouth scramble, but once again the home side hit back straight away to leave Abbots 3-2 ahead at the break.

Southbury scored four times in the opening minutes of the second half, but Abbots refused to give up and pulled themselves back into the game with two quick-fire goals of their own through Ben Knight and Callum Woolnough, who scored with a great effort into the top corner from just outside the box.

Abbots camped in the Southbury half in the closing stages, pressing for an equaliser, but they were caught out on the counter-attack as their hosts scored a seventh goal with the last action of a pulsating tie.

Old Fullerians lost 3-2 to Broxelona.
