Herts Junior Cup Round Two

Two Watford Sunday League teams won directly through to the next round, Glenn SSC and CF Fajeczka.

They are also joined by Abbots Wanderers who received a bye and Sparta Phoenix could also progress after their game on Sunday was abandoned due to a severe injury and will now be replayed.

Glenn SSC look like the clear favourites for the trophy based on their experienced players, and they underlined their billing with a thumping 9-2 win over Brookmans Park Reserves.

It was the visitors who took an early lead with a chipped finish, but that setback seem to spur on Glenn.

Chris Blunden curled a ball through for Lewis Putman to equalise. Blunden then scored the first of his five goals just before the break after being assisted by Sam Clark.

The game was effectively over in the opening minutes of the second half as Clark clinically finished off a pass from Tom Kennedy, then Blunden netted his second following clever work from Gary Yerby.

Clark second his second, before Blunden completed his hat-trick to make it 6-1.

Brookmans pulled a goal back thanks to a well-struck long-range effort, but Glenn sealed the win in style with three more goals in the final ten minutes, with Clark completing his hat-trick, whilst Blunden netted twice more to complete his impressive morning’s work.

Glenn now face Hertfordshire Vets in the third round on December 11.

CF Fajeczka are also enjoying a good run as they defeated Bishops Stortford Wanderers 3-2 on penalties after a 3-3 draw.

Alex Bushnell, Damian Jastrzemski and Artur Domaradzki got the goals to set up a trip to Cheshunt Rovers in the next round.

Everett Rovers went down to a 5-2 home defeat to Brewster Plumbing, William Powell and David Spencer with the two goals.

FA Sunday Cup Round Two

Having received a bye in the first round, North Watford’s debut in the national competition ended with a 3-2 defeat to Paggies Bar, Ashley Lewis and Lamarl Hubbard with the goals.

Premier Division

With North Watford in cup action, St Josephs’ 8-0 away win over FC Unicorn means they have opened up a four-point lead at the summit.

It was a bad morning for Unicorn who are having an inconsistent season so far. They did have one real chance of note when Nick Kerley struck the bar when they only trailed 1-0, but after that Joes never looked back.

Harry Seabrook netted four times, Taylor Cobb added a brace, James Yallop struck once, as did Lewis Stead who scored the goal of the game with a solo run, beating four defenders and firing home from 18 yards.

WD Bushey are in second place after they inflicted on Evergreen a first league defeat of the season in a 4-2 victory.

Tommy Twelves gave WD the lead, before Evergreen struck back to take a 2-1 advantage into the break thanks to two set-piece goals converted by Olly Cripps and Kyle Rimmer.

WD hit back in the second half as Callum Davies scored the equaliser after a free-kick from Hamze Ali dropped kindly for him to smash home.

Stevie Ward made it 3-2 after a neat passage of play was finished off by a piece of fine skill.

It was left to Jake Twomey to round off the win after his effort took a heavy deflection, giving the keeper no chance.

Cassiobury Rangers and Abbots Langley Club fought out a 5-5 thriller, as Abbots gained a second point of the campaign so far.

It was goals all the way as Taylor Osunsedo put Cassiobury ahead, but that was soon cancelled out by Elijah Kefas from close range, and then Abbots went in front for the first time thanks to a penalty converted by Alex Diaz.

The game continued to swing end to end after the break, Aidan Lesslie heading down into the ground with the ball bouncing up into the top corner to level the scores, but Ben Knights twice pounced on defensive errors to put Abbots 4-2 up.

The game was far from over though, as Cassiobury scored twice in quick succession. First Osunsedo tapped home, then he set up Elliot Burr for the equaliser, but the game had two final twists.

A minute into added-on time, it looked like Abbots had secured their first win of the season when Knights bundled the ball over the line from close range, but Cassiobury threw everyone forward in a desperate gamble and it paid off as a Jamie McDougall cross could only be parried into the path of Rob Ladmore to equalise.

Division One

Watford Sports made it six wins from six as they narrowly beat Woodside 2-1.

Ollie Lawford gave Woodside the lead on his debut after signing from now folded Watford Town, but Sports took all three points once again thanks to goals from Jake Millman and Taylor Kemp.

Hertfordshire Eagles are the team in closest pursuit of Sports after they beat bottom-placed Chess United 1-0 thanks to a goal in the first half from Glenn O'Malley with a well-judged effort over the keeper.

It was a much better performance from Chess as they seek to pull themselves off the foot of the table.

Two of the other sides in contention in the top half of the table, Forza Watford and SOCA, shared the points after a 2-2 draw.

Forza went ahead in the first half when Francesco Delgaudio headed home a Antonio Cacciapuoti corner.

It looked like that Forza would claim all three points when Giuseppe Delgaudio slotted home early in the second period, but SOCA struck back thanks to an own goal following a corner, before Jake Howell scored with a well-struck free-kick from 20 yards into the top corner.

Langleybury gained a second victory of the season after a 5-4 win over AFC Hatch End with a late winner denying the visitors a first point of the campaign.

Langleybury had built up a 4-2 lead as the game entered its final ten minutes, before two defensive errors allowed their opponents to level, but with two minutes left Ollie Ilott scored the winner, as well as completing his hat-trick.

Langleybury’s other goals came from Oliver Sills and Matt Honey.

Kristian Hogberg hit a brace for Hatch End, with Andrew Beck and Kareem Deckon also on target.

Division Two

The Cross made it four wins from as many games as they took over at the top of the table after a 4-0 victory over Dunnings Bar.

David Flannery, Will Keddy, Raphael Wiredu and Stephfani Grimes-Ford gor the goals.

King George are up into third place after they beat West Herts 3-2.

Colm Parrott, Karl Davidson and Callum Flanagan got the George goals, with Ryan Whitehurst and Evans Owusu replying.

BBFC are in fourth place, level on points and goal difference with King George, but separated by a single goal, after they overcame St Josephs Reserves 3-1 who suffered a sixth defeat of the campaign.

Cian Hallahan, Danny Galliers and James Booth were on target for the victors, with Leon Bailey scoring Joes’ consolation.

Division Three

The league’s bottom division is not short of goals so far this season, and it saw another 26 scored on Sunday across just four games.

With leaders Inter not in action, Woodside Reserves moved to within three points of them after edging through 4-3 against bottom-of-the-table AFC Watford who are still pointless.

Dermot O'Sullivan, Luke O’Malley and Ross Benton scored for AFC, but Woodside took the points thanks to George Thomas’ brace and a goal each for Valtencir Poyer and David Smith.

Batchworth lost a little ground on the top two as they could only draw 2-2 with Rio Rovers, Richard McCrossan scored twice for Rio and their opponents replied through John Robertson and Alex Hollis.

Abbots Wanderers’ fine run of form continued as they made it three wins on the bounce, this time with a 6-5 victory over Chorleywood Club.

Jake Mephan struck twice, supported by goals from Matthew Zandes, Jordan Standley, Andy Denyer and Will Bell.

Denis Fibisan and Jordan Allen both netted doubles for Chorleywood with Steve Quarington also on the scoresheet.

Scott Orchard and Charlie Buss scored two apiece for Bricket Wood Acorns as they defeated PTH United 4-0.
