Premier Division

Abbots Langley Club produced the result of the season so far as they gained their first win and inflicted reigning champions North Watford’s first defeat of the campaign with a 2-1 triumph.

The victors played a high pressing game and had the better of a goalless first half. Early in the second period, Abbots went ahead after a ball went over the top of the North Watford defence allowed Alieu Gibril to lift it over the oncoming keeper from the edge of the area.

The lead did not last long, and North Watford pulled level when Reece Cameron equalised at the near post.

That goal did not deflate Abbots and they hit back straight away when a Tom Bourke free-kick was controlled in the area by Kyle Clifford who set up Gibril to net his second of the game from close range.

Despite heavy pressure from North Watford in the final ten minutes, Abbots held on for a memorable win.

Like North Watford, WD Bushey also dropped points as Cassiobury Rangers held them to a 1-1 draw.

In a poor scrappy game devoid of many clear-cut chances for either side, it was Rangers who went ahead when a Sam Mortimer corner was met at the front post by Aidan Lesslie, who was able to steer the ball towards goal but it was blocked on the line by WD defenders. However, Taylor Osunsedo was quickest to respond to bundle it into the net.

WD equalised when Hamze Ali’s mishit shoot fell kindly for Ramon Salami-Rasheed who scored his first goal for the club.

FC Unicorn achieved a second league win of the season with a 3-1 victory over Old Fullerians.

It was Fullerians who went ahead in the first half when Craig Totton intercepted a throw out from the keeper and rolled the ball back into the unguarded net. However, that was as good as it got for them, as Unicorn dominated the remainder of the game.

They drew level when Danny Warwick’s free-kick was nodded in by Max Halcomb, and a second soon followed when a through ball from Jamie Calvin was turned home by Krasi Makaveev using his knee.

The third goal which sealed the three points came from Warwick on the rebound after being set up by Calvin.

The first came when James Todd pounced on some poor defending to round the keeper and slot home.

The second came after Dan Anderson drilled in a low shot from a tight angle.

Division Three

The league’s bottom division continues to produce goals aplenty, with 24 resulting from four games resulting on Sunday.

The leaders at the start of the morning, Inter, were held 2-2 at home by Batchworth in an open attacking game.

Gabriel Casagrande and Ioan Vranceanu netted for Inter, with John Robertson and Henry King replying for the visitors.

That draw allowed Abbots Wanderers to complete their impressive rise to the top of the table as they beat PTH United 4-0 for a fifth straight win, coming after taking just one point from their first four games.

Sam Merritt netted a brace with Matthew Zandes and Jordan Standley also on the scoresheet.

Woodside Reserves and Rio Rovers shared ten goals between them.

Ollie Lawford scored all five for Woodside, but it was not enough for the three points thanks to Aamir Ishaq’s hat-trick for Rio, who also had Dean Purdham and Richard McCrossan on target.

Chorleywood Club AFC beat AFC Watford 5-1, Luke Williams with a double, supported by goals from Dennis Fibisan, Jordan Allen and Steve Quarrington. Jordan Stagg netted the sole AFC reply.
