Herts Junior Cup Fourth Round

Glenn SSC moved into the last eight of the Junior Cup with a 4-1 home win over Brewster Plumbing to set up a quarter-final tie this Sunday against Atletico 99.

The Watford Sunday League side had to do it the hard way after conceding the opening goal midway through the first half, but on the half-hour mark they equalised through George Davies with a deft flick-on from a Gary Yerby cross.

In the second half Glenn justified their favourite’s tag as they scored three times without reply.

First John Smith volleyed home from outside the area, then a defensive error allowed Sam Clark to net the third, before Clark completed a brace with his team’s fourth goal five minutes from time.

Herts Intermediate Cup Quarter-Final

Woodside, who lost on penalties in the final of the Junior Cup last season, reached the last four of the Intermediate Cup after a hard-fought 2-1 win over Forever Young People.

Woodside had the better of the first half, but failed to take several good chances and were made to pay when the visitors took the lead just before the break.

Woodside stepped up a gear in the second period and soon drew level thanks to a long-range effort from Luke Dolan.

The tie was decided by a penalty which was converted by Harry Beaumont.

Herts Intermediate Cup Third Round

Woodside will face either Oceans XI or Little Heath in the semi-final after Oceans knocked WSL opposition 2-1 for the second round running, this time Watford Sports.

Sports held a 1-0 lead at the break thanks to a goal from Harry Bennett, but were unable to hold onto the advantage as the home side battled back to move into the last eight.

Eric Hand Challenge Cup Third Round

Holders North Watford overcame a protentional banana skin as they beat First Division promotion hopefuls Forza Watford 4-0.

Ashley Lewis opened the scoring with a net finish from a tight angle. Lewis then turned provider for Ben Alexander to unleash an unstoppable drive from 30 yards to make it 2-0.

Gurkan Gokmen scored the third early in the second half with a close-range finish, before Usman Ali rounded off the scoring with a finish across the keeper.

Denis Jackson Intermediate Cup Quarter-Finals

The line-up for the semi-finals of the cup competition for the two lower divisions was decided.

Everett Rovers are the only Third Division side through after they beat Inter 4-0.

Emmanuel Ojeah opened the scoring with a diving header from a David Spencer cross.

Everett picked up the pace in the second half and after some fine attacking play from Darius Price, he squared the ball for Louie Muncie to score from two yards out.

Ojeah added his second with a back heel flick, and then Alfie Fitzpatrick wrapped it up when he smashed the ball into the net from 12 yards.

Rovers will face Second Division Sparta Phoenix in the semi-final after they narrowly defeated Third Division Batchworth by a single goal.

Batchworth, who have scored the most league goals in the bottom two divisions, for once failed to hit the target. Alex Hollis and top scorer Mikel Walsh missed good chances, including the latter striking the crossbar in the second half.

With time running out, they were caught out at the back from a set piece, allowing James Lefrere to net the winner.

The highest ranked side left in the competition The Cross beat Woodside Reserves 4-2.

Raphael Wiredu netted a brace with the other goals coming from Connor Powell and Chi Ejiogu. Josh Towle replied with both goals for Woodside.

The Cross’s opponents for a place in the final will be St Josephs Reserves who belied their poor league form to reach the last four to beat West Herts thanks to a goal from Robbie Tocher.

Premier Division

WD Bushey moved to the top of the table after a 3-1 away win over Evergreen.

WD took the lead mid-way through the first half after a Dion Belle shot landed kindly for Stevie Ward who smashed home.

The home side were reduced to ten men due to a sin-bin immediately after the goal and this helped WD to score their second as Joshua Quinlivan headed home from a Dion Belle free-kick.

In the second half, WD continued to dominate and Quinlivan returned the favour to Belle by slipping him through to slot home to make it 3-0.

Evergreen pulled a goal back late on from Tommee Seaton.

Old Fullerians won the battle of the bottom two sides as their second win of the season saw them beat Abbots Langley Club 2-1.

Fullerians went ahead in the first half when Toby Anthony crossed for Charlie Hailey to finish from close range.

Anthony was once again the provider after the break, this time for Jake Entwistle to tuck the ball over the advancing keeper.

A late headed goal from Mark Riddick proved only to be a consolation for the home side.

Division One

Hertfordshire Eagles returned to the top of the table thanks to a 2-1 win over AFC Hatch End.

Eagles, playing with the bear XI men, survived the first period before taking control in the second half.

Nathan Codling gave them the lead and this was swiftly followed by a second from James Hicks with a strike into the top corner.

Hatch End battled away and pulled a goal back from Mark Bennett towards the end.

SOCA remain in the title hunt as they easily swept aside Chalfont Saints 4-0.

Tyrone Tomlin opened the scoring in the first half and this was soon followed by a goal from Conor Chapman.

Harry Chamberlain netted the third in the second half, with the fourth coming from George Coffey who netted after the Saints keeper spilled the ball into his path.

Chess United continue to recover from their awful start season and claimed a third win of the campaign, 3-1 over Langleybury CC.

The points were all but secured after a first-half hat-trick for the returning Ali Shale.

His first, a header at the back post, came after a cross from the right.

His second was gifted to him after a Langleybury defender tried to pass back to his keeper but sold him short, allowing Shale to round the keeper and slot home.

He completed his hat-trick from the penalty spot after he was brought down by the keeper following a through ball.

Langleybury pulled a goal back in the second half from Connor Sills.

Division Two

Frances George put a massive dent in Dome Bar’s title hopes with a 1-0 defeat thanks to a headed goal from Tom Minton.

King George also missed the chance to go back to the top of the table as they were held 3-3 by CF Fajeczka.

David Coyde, Darren Obrien and Phillip Molloy scored for the home side, with Artem Karakaptan, Joseph Belloni and Alex Bushnell replying for the visitors.

The game between mid-table sides Dunnings Bar and BBFC ended in a 1-1 draw, with Ryan Mangan netting for the home side and George Degnan replying for BB.

Division Three

Chorleywood Club AFC and Abbots Wanderers both enjoyed home wins in a congested table with just six points dividing second placed Batchworth from third-from-bottom Bricket Wood Acorns.

Chorleywood are up into third place after they beat Acorns 5-0, Scott Reeves with a brace followed by a goal each for Nick Nolan, Jack Billings and Ross McGuire.

Abbots Wanderers are directly below them in the table, level on points but with a two worse goal difference after they defeated AFC Watford 3-0 thanks to a double from Andy Denyer and one from Jordan Standley.
