Premier Division

With Watford Sunday League leaders WD Bushey involved in cup action, the focus was on the two teams chasing them down, North Watford and St Josephs, and they both won to cut the lead at the top, with now just three points separating the three teams.

North Watford beat Old Fullerians 3-1. Ashley Lewis gave them the lead in the first half with a penalty after he had been brought down in the area.

Early in the second half, Fullerians equalised when Jack Lieberman raced onto a Toby Anthony through ball, exchanged passes with Tom Guichemerre around the keeper and he tapped into an empty net.

But the scores didn’t remain level for long as Lewis netted his second of the game to restore the lead. Daryl Brown then rounded off the win with a free-kick from 20 yards out.

St Josephs bounced back from their defeat the previous week to beat bottom club Abbots Langley Club 3-0.

Taylor Cobb was the Joes star man with all three of his side’s goals, the opener coming in the first half with an easy tap into an open goal after a shot had come back off the crossbar.

Two more followed in the second period, a penalty and he completed his hat-trick in the last minute after racing onto a through ball.

Eric Hand Challenge Cup Third Round

There were no upsets in the four fixtures played, with all the higher ranked sides coming through potentially tricky ties.

Premier Division Evergreen beat Second Division CF Fajeczka 3-1.

Jack Sahota netted twice, the first coming when the home keeper mistimed a move for a through ball, allowing him a simple finish, while the second was an effort into the top corner.

Evergreen’s third was an own goal off the home keeper after Sahota’s strike had come back off a post.

Viktor Roman pulled a consolation back for the home side late on.

Cassiobury Rangers overcame mid-table First Division side Chess United by a single goal.

This came late in the first half when Nathan Page moved the ball onto Taylor Osunsedo, who knocked it into space on the edge of the area and whipped in a shot that was heading to the right corner, but it took a deflection that wrong-footed the keeper.

In the second half Rangers struck the woodwork twice before Chess also missed two great chances for an equaliser, but Rangers held on for the win which now pitches them against another First Division side, Woodside, for a place in the last four.

Like Cassiobury, Premier Division leaders WD Bushey dispatched another First Division side, SOCA, 4-1.

Daniel Flanagan smashed home the opener from edge of the box, but SOCA levelled when Stevie Dowling fired a shot into the top corner from long range. Despite this, WD managed to take full control of the game.

Flanagan completed his hat-trick in the first half and Ramon Salami-Rasheed scored from a free-kick after he was brought down on the edge of the box.

The all-First Division clash between AFC Hatch End and Watford Sports was a bottom versus top affair, with Sports running out 4-0 winners. However, it was far closer than the scoreline suggests, with all four goals coming in the final 15 minutes.

Joe Blagden finally broke down the Hatch End defence, which was followed by two goals from Harry Bennett either side of one from Taylor Kemp.

Chairman’s Cup Quarter-Final

Hertfordshire Eagles are the first team through to the semi-finals of the Chairman’s Cup after they beat Second Division King George 5-2.

Jack McLaughlin scored the first of what turned out to be his four goals in the opening minutes, he then had a chance to double the lead but saw his penalty saved by the King George keeper.

McLaughlin was not to be denied for long when he soon made it 2-0, but the game was far from won as King George battled back into the tie, drawing level by the break thanks to a brace from Phillip Molloy.

Eagles stepped up a gear in the second half, with Dillon Sullivan restoring the lead, before two more goals from McLaughlin completed the scoring.

Division One

Both of the title contenders in action, Woodside and Forza Watford enjoyed wins, to leave just three points dividing the top five teams.

Woodside are up into third and did their goal difference no harm at all with a 9-0 demolition of ten-man Langleybury CC.

Ollie Lawford kept up his remarkable scoring record with yet another hat-trick, taking him to 20 goals for Woodside in just ten games. It was also the fifth time he’s scored three or more in those matches.

The other six goals came from a brace from Joe Fox and a goal each for Henry Hardman, Steve Stratford, Charlie Fisher and Joe McCarthy.

Forza beat Chalfont Saints 3-0 to move into fourth place, just three points off the lead.

All the Forza goals came in the first half, Giovanni Torrano netting twice with headers, the first from close range, the second a bullet from the edge of the area, with Francesco Delgaudio scoring the third from a free-kick.

Division Two

Leaders The Cross went down to a single goal defeat to Dunnings Bar scored by Ben Brown.

Glenn SSC, who are playing catch up in the league due to their Herts Junior Cup run, moved into second place in the table after a 6-1 victory over West Herts.

They had six different goal scorers, Chris Blunden, Johnny McGeachy, Sim Armstrong, Tom Kennedy, Brad Wadkins and James Henney. Liam Andrews netted the Stags reply.

Dome Bar, whose form had been in a down turn, turned the right way up again as they beat Frances George 5-2 to keep themselves in the promotion mix.

Jay Haynes scored a hat-trick with the other goals coming from Steve Noonan and Scott Kilbane. Gary Hennicke and Adam Willden replied for George.

In the big six pointer at the foot of the table, Sparta Phoenix gained just a second win of the season with a 3-1 victory over bottom-placed St Josephs Reserves.

Floyd Thompson, Charlie Vos and James Lefrere scored the goals. Luke Stallard responded for Joes Reserves.

Division Three

The Third Division title and promotion race is shaping up to be one of the closest - and unpredictable - in the league’s long history, with just seven points separating seven of the division’s ten teams.

With the top two at the start of play, Inter and Batchworth, not in action, it was left to Abbots Wanderers to take over at the top after they narrowly defeated Bricket Wood Acorns 3-2.

Andy Denyer, Ashley Marchant and Jordan Standley were on target, with Jack Micklewright and Charlie Buss replying for Acorns.

Rio Rovers beat PTH United 6-2, Russell Farden and Aamir Ishaq both with a double, and a goal each for Jack Wilson and Lucas Pereira. Billy Brewer and Barry O'Grady got the two PTH goals.

Everett Rovers overcame Woodside Reserves 3-1 thanks to a Michael Dankwa brace and a goal for William Power. Andre Federico scored for Woodside.
