Terry Deveruex President’s Cup Semi-Final

FC Unicorn caused an upset by knocking out Premier Division leaders WD Bushey 5-2 to reach the final of the President’s Cup.

Nick Kerley was the star man for Unicorn as he netted four times with Danny Warwick also on target.

Unicorn took an early lead before Stephen Ward converted a penalty to level the scores, but their opponents reclaimed the advantage before the break with a spot kick of their own.

Early in the second half, Unicorn made it 3-1, before WD were awarded the third penalty of the tie, only to miss it.

They were left to rue the failure to convert from 12 yards soon after when Unicorn made it 4-1, before Daniel Flanagan converted from close range, but any chance of a comeback was ended when Unicorn netted a fifth after withstanding some late WD pressure.

Chairman’s Cup Sem-Finals

Glenn SSC are through to a second cup final appearance of the season after they swept aside CF Fajeczka 6-1 and now face Woodside, who defeated fellow First Division title contenders Hertfordshire Eagles 2-1, to set up what looks like a mouth-watering showdown at Oxhey Jets on April 23.

Glenn enjoyed the perfect start when they were awarded a penalty for handball after less than 30 seconds which Chris Blunden dispatched into the bottom left corner.

Ten minutes later minutes they were awarded another penalty, this time after Sam Clark was brought down inside the area and again it was converted into the same corner of the net by Blunden.

CF pulled a goal back on the half-hour mark thanks to Joseph Belloni, but in the second half Lewis Putman cut inside from the left to make it 3-1 and soon after Blunden completed his hat-trick to effectively end the game as a contest.

Two more goals followed, both scored by Luke Lloyd, the second of which was a well-worked team effort.

Woodside had to come from behind to beat Eagles, with Ollie Lawford scoring yet again, this time with a brace, after Evan King had given Eagles the lead.

Division Two

The Cross have opened up a five-point lead at the top of the table after a single goal from Abhay Punni was enough to beat Sparta Phoenix 1-0.

Division Three

Rampant Chorleywood Club AFC put 19 unanswered goals past bottom-of-the-table PTH United.

Adam Smith led the onslaught with a double hat-trick, alongside four goals from Nick Williams, with Jordan Allen, Nick Nolan and Dennis Fibisan all weighing in with braces. Steven Quarrington, Adam Cayzer and Catalin Pirtache completed the rout with a goal apiece.

Abbots Wanderers moved into second place, although they only have one game left to play, after they beat Rio Rovers 4-3.

Andy Denyer with a double and a goal each for Alex Stevens and Matthew Zandes secured the points. Richard McCrossan netted twice for Rio, alongside a single from Jack Wilson.

Bricket Wood Acorns beat AFC Watford 3-1, Jack Micklewright with two and one for Taylor Pope. Joel Cook replied for AFC.
