Herts Intermediate Cup Round One
It was another relatively successful morning for the Watford Sunday League in a Herts competition, this time in the Intermediate Cup with three out of six clubs progressing to the next round.
Langleybury produced the performance of the morning as they came from 3-1 down to win 5-3 at Brookmans Park Reserves in an exciting tie.
The home side went ahead early on before a through ball from Charlie Hobbs put Oliver Ilott one-on-one with the keeper and he made no mistake.
Brookmans restored the lead on the stroke of half-time when the ball was turned into an empty net after the Langleybury keeper and defence failed to deal with a cross.
The tie looked all but over early in the second half when once again the Langleybury defence didn't clear a cross, allowing a home player to volley in from close range.
The Langleybury comeback started when they were awarded a penalty for a handball, which was dispatched by Ilott.
He then completed his hat-trick for the equaliser, turning the ball home after both Louis Haywood George and Max Ellerington had shots blocked.
Ilott wasn’t finished as he turned provider for the goal which gave his side the lead for the first time when his shot was saved but it went into the path of Charlie Hobbs to convert.
The victory was sealed late on when a back pass from the Brookmans left-back gave Ellerington the time and space to tuck the ball home.
The all-WSL tie between SOCA and Chess United ended in a comfortable 5-0 win for the home side.
George Coffey started the scoring when he rounded the keeper and slotted home.
A second goal soon followed soon when Jake Howell smashed the ball into the top corner from around 20 yards.
SOCA continued in the same vein after the break and Stevie Dowling set up Coffey who angled the ball into the net for his second.
Coffey then turned provider when he dribbled past three defenders and set up Mica Burton who volleyed into the top corner.
The fifth and final goal came was netted by Harry Chamberlin who dispossessed the keeper and passed the ball into an empty net.
Watford United enjoyed a 6-1 home win over Karen Pulis FC.
Adam Anwar struck a hat-trick, Nitharshan Sellathurai a double and there was one from Murtaza Hussain.
The Cross went out 4-3 on penalties after drawing 1-1 with TNF.
Having gone behind in the first half, The Cross dominated the tie after the restart, hitting the crossbar while the TNF keeper made several outstanding saves.
They finally equalised when David Flannery headed home a long goal kick from Liam McDonagh five minutes from time to take the tie to a shoot-out, in which The Cross missed two kicks, allowing the home side through.
Watford Sports suffered a 4-1 away defeat to FC Tudors.
The home side went ahead just before half-time, and doubled their lead with a disputed offside goal early in the second half.
Harry Bennett pulled a goal back, but Tudor completed the win with two goals late on.
Premier Division
With leaders North Watford’s game against Glenn SSC postponed, WD Bushey took advantage, cutting the champions’ lead at the summit down to a single point after they beat Woodside 4-1.
They had a dream start, racing into a 2-0 lead in the opening half-an-hour after taking the lead when Ramon Salami-Rasheed bundled the ball over the line following a Corum Chase free-kick.
Chase made it 2-0 shortly after with a strike from outside the box, but Woodside pulled a goal back before the break through Ibrahim Sherif.
Gbohun Palmer-Inyang netted from Stevie Ward’s rebounded effort in the second half, with Chase completing the scoring after he converted a Daniel Flanagan cross.
Cassiobury Rangers are up into third place after they beat Evergreen 3-2.
Sam Mortimer gave Rangers the lead with a curled free-kick before Jon Burch volleyed home a second before the break.
Cassiobury added a third after the restart when Harry Bedford crossed for Taylor Osunsedo to score.
Evergreen rallied with two late goals thanks to a penalty converted by Olly Cripps and one from Chris Johns.
Playing only their second league game of the season, St Josephs made it two wins from two as they beat Abbots Langley Club 3-0.
St Joes rode their luck early on when Abbots missed a penalty, but they ultimately ran out comfortable winners thanks to a brace from Taylor Cobb and one from Samuel Tring.
Forza Watford have a first win in the top flight as they beat ten-man FC Unicorn 6-1.
The home side, missing the vast majority of their regular team, scored their only goal thanks to a deflected effort from Callum O’Connor.
The Forza goals came from Giuseppe Delgaudio who struck a hat-trick, Bladen Trigg with a double and one for Daniel Grace.
Division One
The only fixture in the division saw Batchworth lose for a fourth time as they went down to a 3-2 defeat to CF Watford Continentals.
Amir Khan gave the home side an early lead with a long-range effort, before Joe Belloni doubled the lead.
Alex Hollis slotted home a penalty to reduce the arrears, but once again Batchworth were made to pay for poor defending as Alex Bushnell scored.
Batchworth had the better of the play after the break and pulled a goal back when Lloyd Milliken crossed for Dylan Rose to head in.
Division Two
Leaders Everett Rovers dropped their first points of the season as they were held to a 2-2 draw by Frances George.
Sam Waller got them off to a great start after good play from Michael Dankwa, but a deflected free-kick from Sam Duff drew George level.
A second-half penalty by Dujon Desagurante put the home side back in front, but a late goal from Brett Beaumont following a long throw saw George earn the point.
Watford Youth Sports secured their first win of the campaign as they beat Abbots Wanderers 3-1.
They went ahead when a good passing move allowed Louie Muncie to slot past the oncoming keeper.
A second goal followed when a push in the area on Gabriel Wright allowed Oliver Frost to convert the resulting penalty.
Early in the second half, Abbots pulled a goal back through Matthew Zandes, but it was Sports who sealed the win when Frost scored his second following a swift passing move on the counter attack.
St Josephs Reserves are in third place after they made it seven points from a possible nine with a 4-2 win over West Herts.
Mitchell Teale led the way with a double for Joes with Robbie Tocher and Harry Murray also on target. Roscoe Tebbs scored both the West Herts goals.
Inter beat Hertfordshire Athletic 3-2 thanks to goals from Gabriel Vranceanu, Vinusan Vasanthakumar and Alex Nottage. Evan King and Henry Gibbor replied.
Nelson Gomes and Fergus Jimminson scored for Sparta Phoenix as they overcame Dome Bar 2-1, with Sean McDonagh netting the reply.
Division Three
Woodside Reserves look like the team to beat in the division as they made it four wins from four with a 4-1 victory over they Bricket Wood Acorns.
Andre Federico scored twice and there were also goals from Alex Faur and Josh Towle, with Taylor Pope netting the Acorns consolation.
Abbots Athletic are in second place after they got the better of Mill Hill Village 4-2.
Max Lacey, Leon Power, Ben Veal and Blake Parker netted for the victors with Harley Fonti and Marcus Aitken replying.
FC Railway had a straightforward 4-1 win over Surely Wood, Nathan Tannian, Tom Coleman, James Barnett and Danny Wallis netting, while Keith McAspurn struck for the home side.
Chorleywood Club AFC beat Everett Rovers Reserves by the same scoreline through a brace from Catalin Piritache and goals for Jordan Allen and Joe Berzins. Leo Broom netted for Everett.
Joe Rock, Peter Rock and Paddy Moran were on target for AFC Watford as they beat PTH United 3-1, Alex Deighan responding for the defeated side.
